The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) published a guidance note last month to help organisations and individuals to comply with the WEEE Regulations 2013 which came into effect on 1st January 2014.
The guidance covers businesses, local authorities and third sector organisations as well as individuals in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland who buy, sell or dispose of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE).
Redefining the scope of the new regulations, which include photovoltaic panels as EEE for the first time, the guidance outlines the different responsibilities of producers and distributors of EEE, non-household users of EEE, compliance schemes, local authorities, collection and treatment facilities, exporters of WEEE.

This guidance note supersedes the draft guidance note BIS published late last year. The guide can be accessed from the Government website.
