Dominic Hirst ticked off the second in the directors’ summer of challenges yesterday, mountain biking for thirteen hours which included 87 miles along Britain’s oldest road.

Mountain biking the Ridgeway Trail as part of Wiser Group's Summer of ChallengesWiser’s Operations Director mountain biked along the Ridgeway Trail that starts in the World Heritage Site of Avebury and passes through the North Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.   Accompanied by four friends, Dominic mountain biked for thirteen hours covering over 104 miles.

Dominic says: “We skilfully managed to plan the day whilst the area had its heaviest daily rainfall in one day for eight years! Thanks to the Bull Inn at Streatley where we spent a good hour drying off, and Sid the support crew, we achieved the challenge and returned on one piece. Unfortunately we saw no outstanding beauty just cloud, mist and rain!”

Dominic and the other directors of the Wiser Group are raising funds for the Fire Fighters Charity having experienced the amazing support of firefighters, and seen what they put themselves through, last year when Wiser Recycling’s Cambridgeshire facility burnt down. The national charity supports over 5,000 former and current fire and rescue personnel each year with services that include rehabilitation, nursing and family support.

The directors are also supporting a local charity, the Raptor Foundation, to whom we will make an offline donation.
