The Environment Agency confirmed last month that the UK has met its 2014 waste electrical and electronic (WEEE) target of collecting 490,000 tonnes.

In 2014, 494,254 tonnes of WEEE were delivered to Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs) including Wiser Recycling’s facilities in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and West Yorkshire.

The EA’s confirmation follows the recent announcement of 2015 targets by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills at 506,878 tonnes. This new target, 16,000 tonnes higher than that for 2014 and exceeds the EU Member States target of 484.661.
