097LR20th December 2013

The new Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations 2013 came into force in the UK on 1st January 2014.

The regulations incorporate a number of changes following the recast EU WEEE Directive and to address producer concerns that the cost of complying with the regulations did not reflect the actual cost of recycling WEEE.  The regulations affect producers, retailers, recycling and waste management companies, local authorities and producer compliance schemes.

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) has produced guidance on what those businesses affected by the regulations need to do to meet their obligations.  For more information, visit the BIS WEEE Guidance and the WEEE Regulations 2013.
