Wiser Recycling is currently commissioning its new Smash Boom Bang (SBB) machine to treat small electrical appliances. The equipment, supplied by Andritz, will improve the capacity and quality of end product materials at our Cambridgeshire Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF).
In the process of being installed at the St Ives based facility, the SBB separates the component parts of small waste electrical and electronic equipment including metals and plastics.
Russell Hirst, Managing Director, Wiser Recycling says: “The SBB will improve the efficiency of our operations and the quality of the individual materials we produce for further recycling, meeting the needs of our clients at both ends of the process. The intention is to more efficiently process the ever increasing volume of small electrical appliances that we handle through our business, and ensure our continued growth can be sustained.”
The new equipment is part of a £450,000 investment programme by Wiser Recycling to increase their capacity across all three waste electrical and electronic equipment facilities following ongoing significant growth.
Wiser Recycling’s Cambridgeshire facility features a fast-growing reuse section as well as the processing of small electrical appliances, a cathode ray tube (CRT) line for televisions and lamp recycling for fluorescent tubes and other lighting.
