Wiser Recycling is pleased to announce that we will be opening a new Approved Authorised Treatment Facility (AATF) for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) this summer.
The new Thetford based WEEE waste facility combines 30,000 sq ft of processing and office space. Replacing Wiser’s existing, much smaller Norfolk facility in Hockwold, the Thetford site not only greatly expands Wiser’s processing capacity but also provides a more central location for our operations.
Current operations from Hockwold will be relocated to Thetford including our lamp recycling plant and cathode ray tube (CRT) line for monitors and televisions. We will then be looking to install a new small appliance process to replace our award-winning Smash Boom Bang plant that was destroyed in the fire at our previous St Ives facility.
The more central location of the Thetford facility will save time on collections, fuel use and associated emissions, and enable us to better serve existing clients and grow our business in the East of England.
Russell Hirst, Managing Director says: “I’m delighted to announce the opening of this new facility. The Wiser Recycling team has worked incredibly hard to ensure the business continued following the fire at our St Ives facility. The destruction of equipment and the facility has set our development back by two years, We have gained strength from this and are now looking forward to a healthy future. The relocation allows us the space in which to house new equipment and processes. It will support our drive to provide high levels of customer service and puts us in a strong position for future growth in the East of England.”
Wiser Recycling has secured our environmental permit and AATF status and is currently installing the weighbridge for the new facility which is due to commence operations in July.
